This is the unique opportunity to sail to Polar regions on a private Yacht, to areas, which you would hardly be able to reach otherwise. If you love an adventure on sea, if you may enjoy to step on beaches, where nobody else has stepped on in modern times, which are a showcase of thousands of years of Eskimo history, if you may also appreciate a very remote, gorgeous nature, this is the right expedition for you.
The 16 m long Yacht "Bagheera" is a brandnew ship, comfortably equipped, being steered by experienced Dutch skippers.

4. - 7. Day:
We continue slowly navigating in between pack ice -floes. On Day 7 or 8 we shall arrive at Coburg Island and - if ice-conditions allow - shall closely approach this historically very interesting island.
There is an almost 400 year old "cemetery" for whalers and explorers. In 1616 William Baffin visited the island and left some of his dead men behind, together with a tombstone, which still must be there. The expedition that was made with the ship "Discovery" in 1616 and is recognized as the one that found the entrance to the NW-passage. The expedition was under the command of Captain Bylot and William Baffin was his navigator.
25 years later Baffin returned to this region to make more detailled maps of what is now known as Baffinland today The original logs and maps of the 1616 voyage got lost and were only discovered 200 years later. The discovery of these maps led to the "discovery" of the actual NW-passage.
During the 17th century nobody believed, that Baffin has actually been there.
The remainings on Coburg Island were only discovered around 60 years ago, which became the ultimate proof that Bylot and Baffin have really been as far north as what is known as Etah today.

8. Day:
We bring our Zodiac to the water, shall visit the island and go for an extended hike across.
At the end of the day we'll set sail to Ellesmere.
9. - 11. Day:
Sailing from one fjord to another we shall pass huge glaciers, the Zodiac will allow us to visit different places every day. Hikes on Ellesmere Island: We'll explore and see the remnants of previous Eskimo civilzations, e.g. Sarqaq and Dorset. Present Eskimos are all descendants of the last and most sophisticated, the so-called Thule civilization. Although hundreds, even several thousand years old, the remnants can be found on the surface. In the High Arctic nothing is being buried under the vegetation as it's the case in regions with moderate clima. And nothing has been taken away here!
Sailing along the island we'll certainly see plenty of birds, seals, narwhales, finwhales, probably even walrusses, sperm whales and polar bears.

12. Day:
We continue further north and sail into Naeres Street. As far as we can! Because we'll meet heavy pack-ice finally, which will force us to turn eastward.
We'll pass Cape Alexander, which is the westernmost point of Greenland, closest to Canada. And above a very stormy place. Strong falling winds from the inland-ice are quite frequent here. Not to forget the "storm-glacier", which is nearby and carries its name literally.
